Southern
Red Oak is intolerant, and moderately resistant to fire. Southern
Red Oak also occurs in bottomlands in the southern Mississippi river
valley and the coastal plains, where it integrates with Quercus
pagoda. In those sites, southern red oak is a better formed tree
that reaches much larger size.
