Effective
as a single specimen, in groupings, in the shrub border, especially
nice in woodland and naturalized type situations, one of the many
favorite eastern native plants. Has low water requirements and displays
a high tolerance to salt and alkali soils. Small rosy-pink flowers
in spring before leaves appear, some produced on older limbs. Sun
to part shade. Does well in many soil types, except permanently
wet, adaptable to acid and alkaline soils.
