About Eastern Redbud Trees: Thousands of glorious pink blossoms, very fast growing. The Red Bud , also known as the eastern red bud, sometimes referred to as the Judas tree because it dates back to biblical times. It is a small tree that displays an abundance of purple blossoms in the spring. It has large heart shaped leaves during the summer, and long seedpods in the fall. Fall color is yellow.

Effective as a single specimen, in groupings, in the shrub border, especially nice in woodland and naturalized type situations, one of the many favorite eastern native plants. Has low water requirements and displays a high tolerance to salt and alkali soils. Small rosy-pink flowers in spring before leaves appear, some produced on older limbs. Sun to part shade. Does well in many soil types, except permanently wet, adaptable to acid and alkaline soils.
